Children develop type 1 diabetes more often than adults, and it sometimes comes at a very young age. Parents can take care of their children in the early stages of the disease, but kids eventually must learn to manage their disease on their own. The first chapter in this Part of Tens provides ten ways to involve kids in their own treatment, the sooner the better. In the second chapter, I present ten key tools of management of type 1 diabetes as commandments, which isn't far from the truth. The third chapter dispels some common myths about type 1 diabetes, and the final chapter gives you some insight into the amazing strides being made toward finding a cure for type 1 diabetes. Hang in there; hope is on the way!
