This device has a sensor inserted into the skin; a wireless transmitter connects the sensor to a receiver. It takes readings every ten seconds and averages them every five minutes. You can see the readings by pushing a button. The meter holds 21 days of data, which may be downloaded to a computer. It sounds an alarm or vibrates to alert you of low and high glucose levels. However, any significant abnormalities should be verified by a finger stick. Also, you must calibrate the meter daily with at least two finger sticks.
