Prep Time: 25 Minutes Start to Finish: 25 Minutes Servings: 5

1/z lb extra-lean (at least 90%) ground beef

1 can (15 to 16 oz) great northern beans, drained, rinsed

% cup finely crushed saltine crackers (about 7 squares)

2 tablespoons barbecue sauce

% teaspoon pepper

1 egg

5 teaspoons barbecue sauce

5 whole-grain hamburger buns, split Leaf lettuce, sliced tomatoes and sliced onions, if desired

1. Heat gas or charcoal grill. In large bowl, mix beef, beans, cracker crumbs, 2 tablespoons barbecue sauce, the pepper and egg. Shape mixture into 5 patties, about '/? inch thick.

2. Carefully brush grill rack with canola oil. Place patties on grill over medium heat. Cover grill; cook 5 minutes. Turn patties; spread each patty with 1 teaspoon barbecue sauce. Cook 6 to 8 minutes longer or until meat thermometer inserted in center of patties reads 160 F.

3. Fill buns with lettuce, patties, tomatoes and onions.
